How To Choose Glasses For Your Face Shape?

Well, contrary to common belief there is not that much connection between your face shape and glasses.

Take any celebrity as an example. Let’s take a look at Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Love Hewitt who obviously have different face shapes.

Also check in Google what shapes of glasses wore Reese Witherspoon, Demi Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Jennifer Aniston, who all have different face shapes.

Have  they worn the same shaped glasses throughout the years? No.
Have they looked bad? I wouldn’t say so.  You may prefer one look over another, which depends on your personal taste. (Check these posts and vote for your favourite look)

Note how some shapes of glasses indicate when pictures were taken.

So how to choose glasses?

First of all, the shape of glasses depends on fashion. If you are still wearing the same pair of glasses that you wore 10 years ago, chances are that you look out of date.

Second of all, the shape depends on your outfit and the impression you want to make.

There are some shapes that have become classic and look good on most faces. So if you don’t know where to start try one of them. Alternatively try many different shapes and see which you like the most.

Aviators – originally developed in 1936 for pilots, they still have some military connotations and will make you look slightly cooler.

Wayfarers have been manufactured by Ray-Ban since 1956. They are quite neutral in character and can be worn with most outfits.

Oval squares (or butterfly or Jackie O. style) are definitely more feminine and also work with most outfits.

One more thing you need to consider choosing glasses is whether you want your nose to look longer or shorter. If the length of your nose doesn’t bother you, you can skip this part.

The lower the bridge the shorter the nose, and vice versa the higher the bridge the longer the nose. My nose is quite long but I’m personally OK with that and the shape of my glasses depends on my mood and my outfit.

These shapes are out of fashion right now:
